The Ninety-Nines are now accepting applications for the 2019 Karen Johnson Solo Scholarship. The Ventura County 99s established this scholarship in 2013 in partnership with the International Ninety-Nines in memory of the Ventura County 99s’ chapter chair who perished while flying frost control in California. This scholarship provides young women (age 16-20 at any time during the 2019 calendar year) who want to learn to fly with $3,000 of financial support for flight training through her first solo and beyond. Applications must be received by July 1, 2019. Unlike most flight training scholarships, the Solo Scholarship does not require minimum number of hours in the cockpit or proof of financial need or financial information.
Over 550 young women have applied for this scholarship since 2013, many of whom have joined the 99s. Please help us publicize the scholarship by sharing this email and the attached scholarship flyer with your pilot friends and any young women you think may be interested in learning to fly.
A scholarship flyer and additional information about how to apply for the scholarship can be found at www.kjsoloscholarship.com. We will award the scholarship at Oshkosh on Tuesday July 23, 2019 at the 99s Annual Aviation Appreciation Dinner. (The dinner web site, www.99soshkoshdinner.com, will be open for reservations on or before May 15th).
